January 6, 2021 by zrb8mf@virginia.edu

The Pharmacology department is sending out a huge congrats to Brady Barron (Pharmacology Graduate Student in Kodi Ravichandran’s Lab) for being a recent recipient of the F31- Ruth L. Kirchstein Predoctoral Fellowship from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disease (NIDDK).

The Kirschstein-NRSA program enables promising predoctoral students, such as Brady, with potential to develop into a productive, independent research scientist, to obtain mentored research training while conducting dissertation research.

Members of the Ravichandran lab are studying the process of dead cell clearance in obesity, specifically identifying and characterizing previously unappreciated cell types and molecules, with the goal of manipulation for obesity and type 2 diabetes therapies.

Brady’s NRSA will help him explore “Understanding phagocytosis in the adipose tissue”

Way to go, Brady! Please give him your sincere kudos and well-wishing as he continues his outstanding work as a student in research!
