The Pharmacology department is sending out kudos to Beth Sharlow! Effective July 1, Dr. Sharlow is promoted to Professor of Research in Pharmacology. Dr. Sharlow’s research focuses on drug discovery and development in cancer and neurodegeneration. She currently is developing screening platforms using human iPS neurons that will be used to screen for new therapeutic leads for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and Alzheimer’s disease. Additionally, Dr. Sharlow is developing a novel PTP4A3 small molecule inhibitor class for ovarian cancer. She is also co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of KeViRx, Inc., a startup biotechnology company based in Charlottesville.
