The Annual Pharmacology Research Retreat was held and hosted by Dr. Mark Beenhakker on Thursday, October 30, 2019 at Morven Farms. It was a wonderful day of fellowship, fun activities that included a pumpkin carving contest, costume contest, Zumba contest, and the presentation of various research interest/efforts of our students and faculty. One of the most exciting parts of the day were the presentation of various awards and announcement of the contest winners. This year’s winners include:
- Ted W. Rall Award (outstanding paper) – Katelyn Ahern (Harris Lab)
- Best Predoctoral Presentation – Mitch Granade (Harris Lab)
- Best Predoctoral Poster- Liz Gonye (Bayliss Lab) and Matteo Ottolini (Sonkusare’s Lab)
- Best Postdoctoral Poster- Yingtang Shi (Bayliss lab)
- Best Pumpkin- I Was Scooped
- Best Costume- Paula Barrett
- Greatest Zumba-er of All Time: Bimal Desai
The Pharmacology Department is very proud of all of its’ extremely talented, hardworking, dedicated, and scientifically passionate students and faculty! It was evident that a lot of work went into each presentation and they were all well-received by all. Everyone did such an amazing job which made it very difficult to decide the winners of these various awards. Please be sure to congratulate all of our winners when you see them around!
