Garrett Mullins Sends Smartphone through Hospital’s Pneumatic Tube System

Garrett Mullins, PhD (Pharmacology, Class of 2015) is making headlines again! This time for his idea to send a smartphone through the hospital’s pneumatic tube system in order to determine why samples being sent to the medical lab were arriving damaged.  Dr. Mullins is currently serving as a clinical chemistry postdoctoral fellow working with David Bruns, MD in the Pathology Department at the University of Virginia. He completed his doctoral training in May 2015 under the guidance of Thurl Harris. Check out this video to learn more about Dr. Mullins’s smartphone experiment:
