Pharm Trainees Secure Extramural Funding

Congratulations to the following pre- and post-doctoral trainees in Pharmacology Labs for securing extramural funding!

  1. Vlad Serbulea, Pharmacology PhD candidate in the Leitinger Lab, received an AHA predoc fellowship that will start on July 1, 2015 for two years. The title of his proposal is: “Oxidized Phospholipids act through TLR2 and SYK to induce chronic low-grade inflammation and insulin resistance in obesity.”
  2. Tyler Basting, Neuroscience PhD candidate in the Guyenet Lab, also received an AHA predoc fellowship which will also start on July 1st for two years. The title of his proposal is: “Arterial pressure regulation by ventrolateral medulla glutamatergic neurons in conscious rats: an optogenetic study.”
  3. Ian Wenker, Research Associate in the Guyenet Lab, received an individual postdoc NRSA for two years that will start on June 30, 2015 entitled “Brainstem control of blood pressure in conscious rodents”.
